SWANSONG

About Us

SWANSONG — Supporting Women And Newborns Supporting Other Necessary Groups — is a charity founded by Nazmin Choudhury, solicitor and founder of NC Law.

Our work is rooted in a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, safety and hope, regardless of where they were born or what circumstances they face.

Through our work in Bangladesh, we support people and communities who are living in poverty or facing circumstances that make it difficult to access the essentials of life.

From providing shelter and clean water to supporting education, healthcare, food and clothing, our aim is to make a practical and lasting difference.

Our Founder — Nazmin Choudhury

Nazmin Choudhury is a solicitor, entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of NC Law.

Born in London to Bangladeshi parents, Nazmin has maintained a strong connection with Bangladesh throughout her life. She qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and, after working at renowned law firms, founded NC Law in 2010.

Her commitment to helping others is deeply connected to the values instilled in her by her late father, who believed passionately in the power of education and giving back to the community.

Nazmin regularly travels to Bangladesh and has continued a longstanding family commitment to charitable work. Her projects have included supporting young girls and women, providing clean water, education and housing, distributing clothing, and helping people access essential medical treatment.

For Nazmin, charity is not simply about making a donation. It is about understanding what people actually need, listening to communities and helping create opportunities that can improve lives for years to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support disadvantaged individuals and communities in Bangladesh by helping provide the basic necessities, opportunities and support that can transform lives.

We focus on practical assistance, including:

🏠 Shelter & Housing

A safe home is fundamental to dignity and security.

We support families and individuals who cannot afford essential housing improvements, including roofing and, where possible, larger housing projects for families who have the means to earn but cannot afford to complete a safe home.

💧 Clean Water

Access to clean water can transform an entire community.

We support the provision of water wells and equipment, helping communities access safer and more reliable sources of water.

📚 Education

Education creates opportunities that can last for generations.

We particularly believe in empowering young girls and children through education, helping them develop the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to build a better future.

🏥 Healthcare

For families living in poverty, medical treatment can be financially impossible.

We help support essential medical treatment and medication where funding can make the difference between someone receiving care and going without it. Our existing charitable work has included support for maternity care and other necessary medical treatment.

👕 Clothing

Good-quality clothing should not be a luxury.

Through clothing collection and distribution initiatives, we help redirect unwanted clothing to people who genuinely need it, including people living in villages and those receiving care in maternity and other healthcare settings.

🍚 Food & Essential Supplies

We support people facing hardship with essential items such as food, water and other necessities, particularly where families and vulnerable individuals have limited access to basic resources.

💼 Creating Livelihoods

We believe sustainable change comes from giving people opportunities to support themselves.

Our projects have included providing equipment and resources such as fishing nets, rickshaws and carpentry tools, as well as seed funding to help individuals establish small businesses and earn an income.
